The Moderator has launched an Appeal for the people of the Philippines following the Typhoon disaster. You can contribute to the appeal today 1st December.  Please place your donation on the collection plate or the plate on the porch table

 Excerpt from moderator’s letter

I, as Moderator, would take the opportunity to commend this special appeal to you, asking that you respond urgently and generously, just as you have at the time of previous crisis appeals.  I am calling for a prompt and targeted response by the Church over the next three weeks, between now and 1st December.  It is vital that we respond quickly, so in anticipation of your generosity we are immediately releasing £20,000 to each of our partners in relief and development, Christian Aid and Tearfund, who will ensure that your contributions are used wisely in the provision of immediate relief of those worst affected.

I am conscious that the 2014 World Development Appeal (WDA) was launched last month, and that the majority of congregations will seek to make a concerted response to the WDA in the Advent and Christmas seasons.  It is vital that you continue to do so, as it is only the work of ongoing sustainable development which will make crises such as this one less frequent and less devastating.  I am therefore asking that your offering for the Philippines Typhoon Appeal be clearly over and above your continuing support for the WDA.

I do encourage you to be prayerful and to give generously that we may play our part in saving lives and restoring hope to the many whose lives have been torn apart amidst this catastrophe.
