Rev Drew Abernethy will conduct the next in the series of bible studies for the four churches this Wednesday (24th) in Greenbank hall at 8pm.  Next dates will be Wednesday 28th November & Wednesday 12th December.  Everyone very welcome

Bible studies:  A four week bible study for the four churches will be held in Greenbank and will be led by Roy Porter  The next in the series is scheduled for Wednesday 31st October with the final one on  Wednesday 14th Nov.  All are at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Moderator’s Appeal for Indonesia. The Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Charles McMullen, has launched a special appeal for Indonesia, where tens of thousands of people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance following the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami. There will be a retiring collection today and  next Sunday 28th October..

Moville Presbyterian Church Harvest Thanksgiving Service will be held this evening at 7.30pm.  Supper afterwards in the Hall. Everyone Welcome

Glacknadrummond Methodist Church harvest service tomorrow evening (22nd Oct) at 8pm will be conducted by Rev Richard Johnston with Ladies Choir leading the praise.  Supper afterwards.

Social in Hillhead Hall next Friday 26th October (in aid of church funds). Dancing 9.30pm-1am. Music by Eddie Gallagher-Tir Chonaill Country.  Tickets €6 (Inc Supper). Note: Caterers please provide usual sandwiches & tray bakes for supper. Thank you

Knowhead Harvest Flower Festival presents ‘Fair Waved the Golden Corn’ continues this afternoon from 2-5pm.  Arrangement by Londonderry & District Floral Art Society.  Closing Praise service this eveningt at 7.30pm with Choir Foyle U3A musical director Jim Goodman.  Light refreshments available during the festival.  See leaflets on porch table for other details.

Classes to begin in January (DV) and run through to late February or early March, in good time for admission to the Lord’s Table for Easter/ Spring Communion, depending on the practice of the particular congregation

Points for those considering membership:

  1. At least 14 years old (in their third year at ROI secondary school)
  2. Have sat in on at least one Communion service (not taking part, but observing what goes on) before the classes begin. If they haven’t done so, then they should be invited to the next Communion service.
  3. Have attended Sunday School and be familiar with the Lord’s Prayer and 10 commandments.

Harvest & Healing Service in Donagh Church this afternoon at 3.30pm with guest preacher Iva Beranek, Church’s Ministry of Healing (Dublin) followed by tea.  You are invited and welcome!

Harvest Service here in Hillhead at 7pm this evening will be conducted by Rev Brian Browne (Raphoe & Ballindrait).  Praise will be led by The Methodist Choir. Tea served afterwards in the hall.

Thank you to all who provided flowers & produce and came along on Friday night to decorate the church.  Thank you also to the musicians, readers & soloist for their preparation for the service today.

Presbytery Education Awards

This scheme offers education grants to young people who are members of a Donegal congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland to assist with expenses for First year secondary school education and third level education.  Application forms available Kathleen (Hillhead) or Barbara (Malin).  Closing date for receipt of completed applications is Wednesday 10th October.

The John Deere StoryGeorge Conn will give a talk on the history of John Deere at Fahan Presbyterian on Saturday 22nd September 2018 at 7.30pm.

Free event open to the community.

His talk will look at the life of John Deere from an historical, engineering, farming and Christian perspective

The Stewart Family appreciate the support and prayers afforded to the family by the members of this Church during  this past and recent weeks during  the journey with our Mum in Hospital and in her passing. We thank everyone who called at the home, brought food, sent cards, offered practical help and attended the funeral on Friday. A special thanks to those who organised and helped in so many ways with the Funeral Service on Friday and in the provision and serving of the food in the hall. The family are truly blessed by your kindness.

The Linkage commission will meet each of the 4 congregations separately in Greenbank in September—proposed date is Friday 7th Sept. (4.15pm for Hillhead).  Representation will include the Kirk session and up to 6 members of committee.  Any member of committee willing to attend please let a member of session know. There will be a short meeting of committee following the service next Sunday 26th August to finalise arrangements.

 Heaven Come” at Culdaff Beach,  next Saturday 25th August from 3-9pm. A united church event for the North West.  A day where people and families from all churches and backgrounds can come together have fun, food, fellowship and end the day of activities with a time of worship and praise to God Activities will include: Bouncy castle, Inflatable Obstacle Course, Volleyball, other beach activities, BBQ, Face-painting, Campfire, DJ, Food stands and more. There is no admission fee or tickets that need to be bought however food will have a fee and there will be donation buckets around the beach on the day itself.
