A warm welcome to Patricia Jones who is conducting the service this morning.

Harvest Service here in Hillhead at 7pm this evening will be conducted by Rev Brian Browne (Raphoe & Ballindrait).  Praise will be led by The Methodist Choir. Tea served afterwards in the hall.

Thank you to all who provided flowers & produce and came along on Friday night to decorate the church.  Thank you also to the musicians, readers & soloist for their preparation for the service today.

Service next Sunday will be conducted by Rev Trevor Williamson

Cottage Youth meets this afternoon in Issys Cottage from 4:30pm till 6:30pm. Please note earlier time. Everyone of Secondary School age is very welcome to join.

Church Committee meeting (Hillhead) scheduled for Thursday 11th October at 8pm

Presbytery Education Awards

This scheme offers education grants to young people who are members of a Donegal congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland to assist with expenses for First year secondary school education and third level education.  Application forms available Kathleen (Hillhead) or Barbara (Malin).  Closing date for receipt of completed applications is Wednesday 10th October.

Bible studies:

Mid week bible study at Howard & Helen’s holiday cottage this Wednesday (10th Oct) this week at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

A four week bible study for the four churches will began on Wednesday past in Greenbank and was led by Roy Porter. Roy is no stranger to this area as over 35 years ago was CEF director in youth and children’s work in Good News Clubs and Holiday Bible Clubs.

Wednesday 17th October, Wednesday 31st October & Wednesday 14th Nov .  All are at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Rev Drew Abernethy will conduct 4 bible studies on the following dates in Greenbank hall at 8pm — Wednesday 24th October, Wednesday 28th November & Wednesday 12th December.  Everyone very welcome.

BLOOD DONATION CLINIC at Carndonagh Community School on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th October 2.30pm – 5pm and 7pm – 9.30pm each day

1 in 4 of us will need a blood transfusion in our lifetime . . . .

Knowhead Harvest Flower Festival presents ‘Fair Waved the Golden Corn’ on Friday 19th October (12 noon to 7pm), Saturday 20th October (10am to 7pm) and Sunday 21st October (2-5pm).  Arrangement by Londonderry & District Floral Art Society.  Closing Praise service on Sunday 21st at 7.30pm with Choir Foyle U3A musical director Jim Goodman.  Light refreshments available during the festival.  See leaflets on porch table for other details.

Knowhead Harvest tractor run on Saturday 20th October.  Registration at 10.30am.  €20 per tractor.  All vintage and modern tractors welcome. See leaflets on porch table for further details.

Information from Rev A Rosborough regarding church membership classes (communicant classes)

Classes to begin in January (DV) and run through to late February or early March, in good time for admission to the Lord’s Table for Easter/ Spring Communion, depending on the practice of the particular congregation

Points for those considering membership:

  1. At least 14 years old (in their third year at ROI secondary school)
  2. Have sat in on at least one Communion service (not taking part, but observing what goes on) before the classes begin. If they haven’t done so, then they should be invited to the next Communion service.
  3. Have attended Sunday School and be familiar with the Lord’s Prayer and 10 commandments.
