The University of Ulster Choir  are holding a concert in the Sacred Heart Church in Carndonagh tomorrow evening (10th ) at 8pm.  Everyone welcome

Death of Suzi Sloan.  It is with deep regret that we learned this week of the untimely death of Suzi Sloan a dedicated member of the New Mills team. Suzi came to Inishowen every time with Rev Gordon Best and the team over the past 13 years to lead the Holiday Bible Club.  Our deepest sympathy to her family and the congregation at Newmills remember them in our prayers at this time.

A night of Christmas songs & Carols with Crescendo Community Choir will be held in St Columba’s Church Drung on Monday 17th December at 7.30pm.  Everyone welcome to come along and enjoy the music.  Admission free.  Donations in aid of Kidney Dialysis welcome.

The family of the late Robert Mc Monagle wish to thank the members of the congregation for their help and support this week in particular to those who provided and served the tea in the hall after the funeral Service.  This was much appreciated.

Moderator’s Appeal for Indonesia. The Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Charles McMullen, has launched a special appeal for Indonesia, where tens of thousands of people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance following the recent devastating earthquake and tsunami. There will be a retiring collection today for this appeal.

Presbytery Education Awards

This scheme offers education grants to young people who are members of a Donegal congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland to assist with expenses for First year secondary school education and third level education.  Application forms available Kathleen (Hillhead) or Barbara (Malin).  Closing date for receipt of completed applications is Wednesday 10th October.

Information from Rev A Rosborough regarding church membership classes (communicant classes)

Classes to begin in January (DV) and run through to late February or early March, in good time for admission to the Lord’s Table for Easter/ Spring Communion, depending on the practice of the particular congregation

Points for those considering membership:

  1. At least 14 years old (in their third year at ROI secondary school)
  2. Have sat in on at least one Communion service (not taking part, but observing what goes on) before the classes begin. If they haven’t done so, then they should be invited to the next Communion service.
  3. Have attended Sunday School and be familiar with the Lord’s Prayer and 10 commandments.
